Recreational Therapy

FMB offers recreational therapy on a personal level as well as to organizations as a complementary means of treatment in dealing with psychological and physical health challenges. Our program is just as useful to those who are in a relatively healthy state but chooses to proactively remain active to maintain or improve quality of life.
Mild to Moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism is a developmental disability covering a wide spectrum with symptoms observed in just as diverse a range. At FMB, we take the time required to know our clients and always attempt to work with them at an appropriate comfort level. We adapt our fitness program to work with each individual. When appropriate, we leverage our non-contact boxing and other fitness experience to aid in the encouragement of an active lifestyle.
Mild to Moderate Parkinson’s Disease (PD)

Parkinson’s disease is a brain disorder which can impact the body significantly. Symptoms of the disease are shaking and stiffness. Individuals suffering from Parkinson’s will typically develop challenges in walking, maintaining balance and coordination. This disease predominantly affects senior aged adults. With early detection, different options are available for the slowing of the onset of the disease. With the use of non-contact boxing, other exercises and cognitive activities, we are able to partner with you on your journey.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)

CST is a proactive technique used with seniors in our community to slow the natural deterioration of the mind by focusing on 5 components of the brain (computation, critical thinking, Language, memory and visual/spatial orientation). At FMB, we differentiate our standard fitness programs with the incorporation of these same cognitive exercises during our rest breaks. FMB has expanded on this component to now offer CST as an independent module to work with clients seeking to maintain their cognitive strengths without the physical exercise incorporated into their program.
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADD and ADHD are brain based (psychiatric) disorders leading to inattentiveness and impulsiveness. When fidgeting, squirming, and other constant and inappropriate movements regularly occur, ADHD is more often deemed the more accurate diagnosis. FMB offers counselling to clients in our studio or at client’s home in identifying and alleviating the root cause of distraction. This service is only offered in an in-person and one-on-one forum.
Stroke/TIA

Strokes are now a common part of the aging process and can severely impact not only the individuals suffering from this illness but their immediate caregivers and families. Our experience in this area will allow us to partner with you in the task to improve quality of life for your loved one.
